Azerbaijan, Qatar explore further collaboration in agriculture, tourism, education
On January 26, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev paid an official visit to Qatar.
The visit included the fifth round of political consultations between the representatives of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Qatar, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Rafiyev, while Qatar’s delegation was headed by the country's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi. The two sides discussed bilateral political and economic issues, as well as cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international organisations.
They also addressed a range of regional and global issues of mutual interest. The development of cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education, and other spheres was reviewed. During the visit, Rafiyev met with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Ahmad Al-Sayed.
The need to hold the next session of the joint intergovernmental commission as soon as possible, along with organizing mutual trade missions and business forums was emphasized during the meeting. In Doha, Rafiyev visited the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies, where he met with the center’s director, Hassan Elhag. They discussed Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and the developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.
