The negotiations on the prospects for the development of the Azerbaijani-Russian cooperation in the transport sector were held between Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov at the government building in Moscow on May 3.

The priority tasks of modernising the railway infrastructure within the International North-South Transport Corridor were considered at a meeting in Moscow on April 22 in pursuance of the agreements reached by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, according to Azertac.

Mustafayev and Belousov confirmed their interest in implementing the measures necessary for stable transportation of goods along the railways of Azerbaijan and Russia.

As a result of the negotiations, a Joint Action Plan was approved to create the regulatory legal framework necessary for the development of railway transportation and infrastructure of the International North-South Transport Corridor.
