Azerbaijan's ambassador to Mexico exposes Armenian lies
"Quadratin" daily - a leading media outlet of Mexico's Michoacan state, published a wide response of Azerbaijani Ambassador Mammad Talibov to defamatory information spread after the Mexican-Armenian parliamentary friendship group chairman's visit to Armenia, as well as posted a short video report on its website.
Azerbaijan's embassy in Mexico told Azertag that the Armenian side, taking advantage of the fact that the Mexican public is not that well informed about the situation in the region, is spreading hypocritical slanderous information.
Mammad Talibov told in his interview about the history of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, ethnic cleansing carried out against 200,000 Azerbaijanis, the expulsion of nearly 1 million Azerbaijanis from Armenia and occupied territories, Armenia's ignoring of UN Security Council resolutions, demanding unconditional liberation of Azerbaijani territories, 44-day Patriotic War, during which Azerbaijan liberated its territories from 30-year Armenian occupation, as well as about destruction, looting and mining of our lands.
In the interview, the ambassador reported on Azerbaijan's constructive steps to delimit and demarcate the borders and open communications in the region, as well as how Armenia was evading the signing of the peace treaty through various provocations. Mammad Talibov noted that contrary to the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020, the Armenian side used the Lachin road for military provocations and illegal economic activities, plundering natural resources in Azerbaijani territories, and stressed that Armenia continues purposeful mining of Azerbaijani lands.
The interview noted that according to the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020, Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily deployed in the territory of Azerbaijan, but Armenia, contrary to the above-mentioned statement, is still not withdrawing its armed forces from Azerbaijani territory, spending hundreds of millions of dollars to finance the separatist groups in the territory of Azerbaijan, while the Armenian people are sinking into poverty.
At the end of the meeting, the ambassador talked of restoration works carried out by Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation, and said that two international airports have been built there so far, over 700 km of roads have been constructed, schools and "smart" villages opened, and the first IDPs finally returned to their homes.
Mammad Talibov praised the official position of Mexico, which always remains faithful to the norms of international law, recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The ambassador urged Armenia to abandon its territorial claims against Azerbaijan and support the process of signing a peace treaty.
