Azerbaijan’s prime minister candidate unveils government's priorities

Candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has unveiled the government’s main priorities in the coming years to achieve its goals in the military sphere and ensure the inviolability of borders.

The complete restoration of the sovereignty of Azerbaijan is the most glorious page in the history of independent statehood, Asadov said as he addressed the plenary meeting of the Milli Majlis (parliament) on February 16, Report informs.

The politician emphasized that the Azerbaijani army, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, liberated their native lands from occupation, which lasted almost 30 years.

“In the subsequent period, the main priorities will be achieving the goals set in the military sphere and ensuring the inviolability of borders. The development of the social sphere has always been and will be the focus of attention of the head of state. Improving the well-being of the population, as well as the social well-being of the families of martyrs and war veterans, are still one of the main tasks facing the government,” Asadov said.

The government of Azerbaijan will mobilize all its efforts to fulfil the tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev on time and with high quality to ensure the sustainable development of the country and the prosperous life of the people, Asadov emphasized.

He reminded that in 2019 when he was nominated for the position of Prime Minister for the first time by President Ilham Aliyev, active joint work was carried out between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Milli Majlis.

"During the past period, constructive and effective cooperation was established between the government and the legislative body of our country, and a fruitful joint discussion of various draft laws and documents was held. For this, I express my gratitude to our respected MPs I hope that we will continue this good tradition in the next term and our joint efforts will serve the progress of our country and the welfare of our people.

Let me also note that the report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2023 will be presented to your attention in the near future, and we will discuss the work done by the government last year and the tasks ahead," Asadov stressed.
