Azerbaijan, Ukraine sign legal assistance agreement to boost judicial cooperation
Azerbaijan and Ukraine have signed an agreement on legal assistance in civil and commercial matters, marking another step forward in strengthening bilateral ties.
According to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the document was signed during his meeting with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, held as part of the official visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Azerbaijan.
In a statement shared on social media, Sybiha described the talks as “meaningful,” noting that both sides reviewed the outcomes of high-level discussions between their leaders and coordinated further steps to implement the agreements reached.
“We noted the importance of today’s fruitful talks between our leaders and coordinated next steps to put the outcomes of their agreements into action,” Sybiha wrote on social media.
According to him, the discussions covered key areas of cooperation, including energy, humanitarian assistance, economic ties, political dialogue, and support for Ukrainian children.
Sybiha also briefed Bayramov on the situation on the battlefield following what he described as “the harshest winter in our history.”
“Ukraine is holding the line and making the aggressor pay an ever heavier price,” he stated, adding that he had also updated his counterpart on “the most recent positive developments on our EU track and Ukraine's path to joining the European Union.”
The Ukrainian minister expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support, noting: “I am grateful to Azerbaijan for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, humanitarian aid, and willingness to strengthen our ties.”
He added that six new bilateral agreements were signed during the visit, including the accord on legal assistance.
“One of them, signed by foreign ministers, was the Agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan on Legal Assistance in Civil and Commercial Matters,” Sybiha said. “It will streamline judicial cooperation, facilitate business ties, and strengthen our strategic partnership.”
