Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan discuss urban planning cooperation
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in urban planning and architecture during a meeting in Baku between senior officials from the two countries.
On August 17, Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Deputy Chairmen Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov and Ilgar Isbatov met with Azizkhon Shovkatov, Deputy Mayor of Tashkent, who was visiting Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
According to the State Committee, the officials discussed opportunities to expand professional cooperation, exchange experience and launch joint initiatives in territorial planning, sustainable urban development and the creation of modern urban environments.
Particular attention was given to plans to establish an “Uzbekistan Park” in Baku and an “Azerbaijan Park” in Tashkent. The officials reviewed the current status of the projects and discussed their next stages.
The projects were described as symbols of friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, while also providing modern public and recreational spaces for residents and visitors of both capitals.
The officials also highlighted the significance of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which was held in Baku in May.
They noted that the participation of Uzbekistan’s President in the forum’s Leaders’ Segment, which for the first time brought together heads of state and government, created additional opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in urban planning.
