Civilian seriously injured in landmine explosion in Azerbaijan’s Aghdara district UPDATED
A 54-year-old man injured in a landmine explosion in the Shikharkh village of Azerbaijan’s Aghdara district is now in serious condition, authorities said.
According to TABIB, the victim, identified as Nazim Panahaliyev, suffered a traumatic amputation of the lower third of his right leg after stepping on an anti-personnel mine while grazing cattle in an uncleared area. He was initially treated at the Tartar Central District Hospital before being evacuated to the emergency department of the Barda Central District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

A civilian was injured in a landmine explosion in the Shikharkh village of Azerbaijan’s Aghdara district, according to a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).
Authorities said that on December 3, Nazim Panahaliyev, a 54-year-old resident of the village, sustained injuries to his right leg after stepping on an anti-personnel mine while grazing cattle in an uncleared area. He was evacuated to a district hospital for treatment, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The Tartar District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
In their joint statement, ANAMA and law enforcement bodies urged citizens to observe safety guidelines, heed mine-warning signs, and avoid entering unfamiliar or potentially contaminated areas.
