Azerbaijani Culture Ministry opposes demonstration of anti-Turkish film in Baku OFFICIAL/PHOTO
The Azerbaijani Culture Ministry has commented on the planned screening of the anti-Turkish film entitled “Sisters Apart” in Baku.
Under the existing legislation, local and foreign films planned to be screened in Azerbaijan, must be included by the Culture Ministry in the state register and receive the so-called "Distribution List", allowing to demonstrate films at cinemas, Azerbaijani Culture Ministry Spokesperson Nurida Allahyarova told Caliber.Az.
“The ministry did not allow demonstrating the film 'Sisters Apart', thus it is not planned to be shown in the Nizami state cinema centre or at private cinemas. As for showing a film in other facilities not designed for demonstrating films, such issues are beyond the ministry’s competence. I would like to emphasise that the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry considers it undesirable to show this film even in other facilities,” she added.
The German embassy together with the European Union delegation to Azerbaijan intends to demonstrate the anti-Turkish film "Sisters Apart".
This film was not shown in cinemas within the film festival organised by the European Union delegation to Azerbaijan.
This film was jointly produced by Germany and Greece. It is actually anti-Turkish and promotes the ideas of the militants of the YPG / PKK terrorist organisation.
Despite Azerbaijani cinemas refused to show an anti-Turkish film, the German embassy, together with the European Union delegation to Azerbaijan, decided to demonstrate the film in CineClub, Landmark lll building at 19:00 (GMT+4) on December 5, 2022. The film will be demonstrated in German with English subtitles.
