Azerbaijani delegation joins OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group meeting PHOTO
Regular meeting of the Silk Road Group held within the 30th Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) in Vancouver, Canada, on July 2.
Azay Guliyev, head of Azerbaijani delegation and chairman of the group, delivered a report on priority directions of the organization's activity, Azertag reports.
OSCE PA Secretary General Roberto Mantella, who attended the meeting, praised the activities of the Silk Road Group, noting that the OSCE PA officially supported the structure with a Resolution adopted in Berlin in 2018.
For the first time in the history of the OSCE PA, the Silk Road Group brought together presidential candidates from different political parties - Mark Pritchard (UK), Pere Pones (Spain) and Piu Kauma (Finland), setting the stage for them to present their electoral platforms. The candidates shared their views on the reforms they would undertake in the OSCE PA should they be elected president, the challenges ahead and the solutions to existing problems.
Davor Bernardic, vice-chairman of the Group, head of the Croatian Delegation informed on the OSCE PA Green Economy Conference held in Baku in May this year, praised the work carried out in Azerbaijan in this field.
Bernardic suggested Croatia's candidacy for holding the next international conference of the organization in the autumn of this year. The proposal was adopted by voting.
