Ambassador Ronen Kraus: Azerbaijan-Israel ties now at strategic partnership level
On May 6, 2025, newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ronen Kraus, paid a visit to the House of Azerbaijan in the city of Acre, Israel, underscoring the growing ties between the two nations.
The meeting was reported to Caliber.Az by the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan.
During the visit, the head of the House of Azerbaijan in Acre, Nehemia Shirin Michaeli, spoke warmly about the longstanding and close ties between the Azerbaijani and Jewish peoples. He emphasised the unique status of Azerbaijan as one of the rare countries in the world where antisemitism has never taken root or been tolerated.
Michaeli noted that this atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship is rooted in the efforts of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev, and further reinforced under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Their policies, Michaeli said, have helped raise Azerbaijan-Israel relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Ambassador Kraus, in turn, commended the climate of religious and ethnic harmony in Azerbaijan. He praised the freedom and security enjoyed by all communities in the country, including Jews, and expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s longstanding commitment to peaceful coexistence.
Kraus affirmed his belief that the relationship between Azerbaijan and Israel will continue to deepen and expand in the future, reflecting shared values and mutual strategic interests in regional security, energy cooperation, and intercultural dialogue.
