Azerbaijan, UAE strengthen ties during high-level parliamentary meeting PHOTO

During her official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova met with Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and fostering parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

Ghobash expressed confidence that Gafarova’s visit would significantly contribute to enhancing the parliamentary relationship between Azerbaijan and the UAE, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

He emphasised the UAE’s strong commitment to its partnership with Azerbaijan and expressed satisfaction with the progress made, particularly in the realm of economic cooperation.

In her remarks, Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by her hosts and noted that this visit marked her first trip to the UAE as speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament. 

She stressed the importance of mutual visits and high-level dialogue in fortifying strategic partnerships between the two countries. Both leaders highlighted the significance of cooperation within international organisations such as the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). 

Gafarova provided a detailed overview of the activities of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and expressed her appreciation for the active participation of UAE parliamentarians in its initiatives. The two sides also emphasised the ongoing importance of parliamentary engagement, including the work of friendship groups, regular reciprocal visits, and joint participation in international events.
