Azerbaijan’s commitment to tolerance, multiculturalism highlighted in Vietnam
Azerbaijan’s enduring commitment to religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence has once again been underscored during a meeting between Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, and Phra Brahmapundit, President of the International Council for the Day of Vesak (ICDV), on the margins of a visit to Vietnam.
Mammadov emphasized that Azerbaijan stands out as one of the few countries where representatives of different religious communities live together in peace and solidarity, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted that there have been no recorded incidents of religious or racial discrimination, including anti-Semitism, in the country.
"Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, an atmosphere of tolerance has been fostered in Azerbaijan, which has become a central priority of state policy," Mammadov said.
He further elaborated on the centuries-old traditions of peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance that have shaped Azerbaijan’s social fabric, fostering a strong foundation for the country’s multicultural identity.
Mammadov also discussed the vital role of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations in facilitating cooperation between different religious communities and supporting the activities of religious organizations in Azerbaijan. He noted that the committee plays an important role in maintaining and enhancing the country's reputation as a model of multiculturalism and interfaith harmony.
