Azerbaijani FM holds series of meetings in New York
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, China, and Portugal during a working visit to New York.
The meetings focused on bilateral cooperation, regional security, and international developments, Caliber.Az reports, citing social media pages of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
It said Bayramov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, along with regional and global developments.
The sides exchanged views on regional peace and security, sustainable development, climate action, and ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of the UN-centered international system.
Bayramov also briefed the UN chief on developments in the South Caucasus, including post-conflict normalization efforts and the regional peace agenda. The Azerbaijani minister highlighted Baku’s active engagement within the UN framework and ongoing cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

During talks with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, the parties discussed the further development of bilateral and regional brotherly relations, including cooperation in trade, the economy, energy, transport and logistics, culture, science, and education.
The ministers emphasized the importance of continuing mutually beneficial cooperation and solidarity within multilateral platforms, including international organizations. They also exchanged views on regional security issues, stressing the vital importance of maintaining peace, stability, and sustainable development across the region.

Bayramov also met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The ministers discussed the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan-China comprehensive strategic partnership, highlighting the dynamic political dialogue and expanding cooperation in trade, transport, energy, environmentally sustainable development, digital transformation, agriculture, education, and humanitarian ties.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and cooperation within multilateral platforms, with particular attention paid to collaboration within the UN, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and other international frameworks.
The ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to the comprehensive partnership between Azerbaijan and China for the benefit of both countries.
