South Korean diplomat calls Azerbaijan reliable venue for global events
Azerbaijan has established itself as a reliable platform for hosting major international events, successfully organising global gatherings such as COP29 and the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), South Korea’s Special Representative for the Middle East, Lee Kyung-chul, said on May 27.
Speaking at an event organised by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Seoul to mark May 28 – Independence Day, Lee Kyung-chul conveyed congratulations from the South Korean government to the people and leadership of Azerbaijan on the 108th anniversary of independence.
He подчеркнул: “Azerbaijan has become a reliable platform for hosting international events and has successfully held global events such as COP29 and WUF13,” and expressed confidence that the upcoming summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to take place in Baku, would achieve similar success.
Addressing bilateral relations, the diplomat emphasised that Azerbaijan has consistently been a friend of South Korea in international affairs. He also thanked the Azerbaijani side for its assistance in evacuating South Korean citizens during the Middle East crisis.
Lee Kyung-chul further highlighted the importance of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. He noted that the publication of the first standard Azerbaijani language textbooks in South Korea, along with the translation of the epic “The Book of Dede Gorgud” into Korean, has contributed to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
