Azerbaijani FM addresses Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels PHOTO/UPDATED
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the Nuclear Energy Summit, which was organized for the first time in Brussels, Report informs citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During his speech, the minister spoke about Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and also conveyed Baku’s position on nuclear energy.
Referring to the future prospects of technical cooperation with the IAEA in the field of the use of nuclear technologies, Bayramov spoke about the importance of the "Framework Programme for the Country", implying cooperation with the Agency.
Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan was contemplating the use of nuclear technology to eliminate the mine threat, which was one of the most crucial tasks for Azerbaijan, in collaboration with the IAEA.
Baku prioritizes safety when researching nuclear energy, as per his statement.

The ministry noted that Bayramov's speech covered the use of nuclear technologies by Azerbaijan, prospects for cooperation, the elimination of the mine threat in the liberated territories, as well as the priorities of COP29 in Baku.
World leaders gathered in Brussels at the first-ever Nuclear Energy Summit to highlight the role of nuclear energy in addressing the global challenges to reduce the use of fossil fuels, enhance energy security and boost economic development.
Co-chaired by the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Summit is the highest-level meeting to date exclusively focused on the topic of nuclear energy.
