Azerbaijani mountaineers ascend onto podium of international tournament in Tbilisi
Azerbaijani climbing enthusiasts have successfully competed in an international sport climbing tournament in Tbilisi, managing to bring home several medals.
Members of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation secured a silver and bronze medal in the bouldering discipline in the final stage of the Mikheil Khergiani Cup 2026 in the neighbouring Caucasian state, as local media reports.
Leyla Ahmadova accomplished to win the silver medal for the national team, while Nazim Yusifzade secured a bronze medal.
The Azerbaijani team was competing under the guidance of coach Chingiz Taghizade. Following the qualification round, the athletes ranked among the strongest participants and will continue their campaign for medals in the final.
The Mikheil Khergiani Cup is an international sport climbing competition organized by the Georgian Mountaineering Federation, with competitors from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia having attended this year's event.
