Azerbaijani police seize over 28 kilograms of drugs in latest bust
In a concerted effort to tackle the illicit drug trade, Azerbaijani law enforcement authorities have achieved a significant breakthrough.
On March 23, the police apprehended a substantial haul of narcotics, totalling over 28.5 kilograms, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
The press service of the Ministry disclosed that the operation, part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking, yielded a substantial cache of narcotics. Among the seized substances were approximately 24 kilograms of marijuana, about 3.8 kilograms of opium, and roughly 700 grams of heroin and methamphetamine. Additionally, authorities confiscated 200 tablets of methadone, a potent synthetic opioid used to treat opioid addiction but also subject to abuse.
The decisive actions undertaken by law enforcement underscore their unwavering commitment to combatting the scourge of drugs in the region. The Ministry reiterated its determination to sustain such rigorous enforcement efforts, ensuring that those involved in illicit drug activities face the full force of the law.
"Decisive measures to combat drugs will continue," asserted the department, reaffirming their dedication to eradicating drug trafficking networks.
