Azerbaijan, Pfizer explore new vaccine cooperation for public health
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health held a meeting on July 17with representatives from Pfizer, led by Dmitry Kozenkov, Head of the company’s operations in the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, welcomed the delegation and highlighted that vaccines from four leading pharmaceutical companies had been used in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Caliber.Az reports per the ministry.
Musayev also noted that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine had been listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use, underscoring its global significance. He added that the Ministry is open to discussing the introduction of other vaccines that are important for public health in Azerbaijan.
Dmitry Kozenkov praised Azerbaijan’s independent and effective response to the pandemic, pointing out that it was among the few countries that adopted its own strategic path in tackling COVID-19.
He commended the Azerbaijani government for implementing swift and successful measures to contain the spread of the virus and mitigate its impact on the economy and society.
The meeting included discussions on potential areas of collaboration between Pfizer and the Ministry, including scientific and medical cooperation.
