Azerbaijani president promotes three colonels to major-general rank, awards top brass

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has awarded servicemen of the armed forces and employees of the Interior Ministry.

Under the decree, a number of military officers of the Armed Forces and employees of the Interior Ministry were awarded Karabakh, Azerbaijan Bayragi (Flag), Rashadat (Bravery) orders of the second and third degree, For Service to the Fatherland of the second and third degrees and medals, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani presidential website.

President Ilham Aliyev also promoted Colonels Farid Aliyev, Namiq Bayramov and Mushfig Mammadov of the army to the military rank of major general.

In keeping with another presidential decree, Azerbaijani Defence Minister Col-Gen Zakir Hasanov, Col-Gen Karim Valiyev, Lt-Gen Anvar Afandiyev, Lt-Gen Hikmat Mirzayev and Lt-Gen Ramiz Tahirov were awarded Karabakh order.
