Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev shared his memories of working with the First Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN, Ambassador Hasan Hasanov, Report informs.

The rector emphasized Hasanov’s high professional qualities as a diplomat. In turn, Ambassador Hasanov spoke about the beginning of the activity of the Azerbaijani delegation to the UN on May 6, 1992.

Hasanov devoted his book entitled “Diplomacy under the roar of guns” to this process, in which he described the establishment, activity and tasks of the UN mission amid the Armenia-Azerbaijan Karabakh conflict.

The ambassador stressed that a number of documents and resolutions were adopted within the UN, condemning the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and calling for the liberation of these lands. “The OSCE Minsk Group has been trying for many years to ignore these UN documents,” Hasanov said.

The ambassador recalled that the UN documents remain in force, no matter what Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group try to do, Azerbaijan, having returned its territories, in fact, fulfilled the points of the above-mentioned resolutions.

In turn, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijani Center of Analysis of International Relations Farid Shafiyev stressed the importance of the professional experience of such diplomats as Hafiz Pashayev and Hasan Hasanov in training young personnel in the field of diplomacy and international law.

Shafiyev said that their memoirs and books are interesting and important information for teaching students. He stressed that Azerbaijan managed to become one of the few countries in the post-Soviet area that were members of the UN Security Council.

Shafiyev said that Azerbaijan was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2012-2013, and such steps helped Azerbaijan to gain victory and the country was able to return its territories occupied by Armenia.
