Belgium part ways with head coach Rudi Garcia after World Cup campaign

Rudi Garcia has stepped down as head coach of the Belgium national football team, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) announced on July 20.

The 60-year-old Frenchman leaves the role after taking charge in January 2025, when he succeeded Domenico Tedesco.

Under Garcia, Belgium reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup before suffering a 2-1 defeat to eventual champions Spain, ending their campaign in the last eight.

Garcia arrived with extensive managerial experience, having coached several clubs in France, including Lille, Marseille and Lyon, as well as Italy's AS Roma. He also managed Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr between 2022 and 2023.
