Canada hands over heavy artillery to Ukraine

Canada has handed over heavy artillery and howitzers to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said. 

"Canada has provided the Ukrainian security forces with heavy artillery, as it requested,"RIA Novosti" reports referring to the ministry. 

M777 howitzers and ammunition for them were transferred to Ukraine. Canada also provided Ukraine with additional Carl Gustaf anti-tank weapons. The armored vehicles will be also transferred. 

According to the message, Canada has transferred 118 million Canadian dollars (about $93 million) as military aid to Ukraine since January 2022 while 500 million Canadian dollars ($393 million) is envisaged in the budget for 2022-2023 for this purpose.
