Columbian reporter portrays Armenians' shocking atrocities on Azerbaijani soil
The Colombian press calls not to turn a blind eye to the atrocities of Armenians.
The website of the popular Colombian radio Atlantic carries an article, entitled “The other face of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Karabakh War”.
As Azertac reports, in the article, Colombian journalist Paola Vargas talks about the atrocities she witnessed in the territories liberated from occupation during her trip to Azerbaijan.
According to the author, her goal is to bring to the attention of readers “the barbarity that Azerbaijan has faced.”
The journalist notes that the consequences of the unimaginable atrocities that took place in Karabakh during the period of almost 30-year-long Armenian occupation are still making themselves felt. Reconstruction and restoration of these devastated, destroyed and mined areas requires considerable time.
Paola Vargas was horrified that the cities of Azerbaijan, where dynamic life and socio-economic development were observed before the Armenian occupation, turned into ruins and “ghost towns”, and she was even more outraged by the site of a rocket attack on a residential area in the city of Ganja: “What goal was Armenia pursuing by attacking innocent people? Why do the international media not talk about these realities?”
The Colombian journalist writes that, along with the indelible traces of Armenian vandalism, she witnessed large-scale construction and restoration work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation by the Azerbaijani government. She notes that the ongoing creative work here continues successfully and rapidly, and the large projects being implemented give reason to say that life will soon return to these territories.
With reference to Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the Azerbaijani president - head of the Foreign Policy Department under the Presidential Administration, the article notes that the Armenian residents of Karabakh will be considered equal citizens of Azerbaijan and will be provided with security guarantees. Azerbaijan is a supporter of peace, and irresponsible and provocative statements by the Armenian leadership are unacceptable, the author emphasizes.
