Azerbaijan, Vatican sign memorandum to promote interfaith dialogue Photo
Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vatican’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, aiming to deepen cooperation in promoting interfaith and intercultural understanding.
The agreement includes provisions for the exchange of experience and information, the organisation of joint initiatives, and collaboration in the field of religious education, Caliber.Az reports.
The memorandum was signed by Ramin Mammadov, Chair of the State Committee, and Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to preserve global religious heritage, including the restoration of catacombs and partnerships with the Vatican Museums and the Apostolic Library.
He also noted ongoing projects such as the digitisation of historical manuscripts.
Cardinal Koovakad expressed satisfaction with the strong level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Holy See, emphasising its importance in fostering tolerance and mutual understanding.
