Death toll in Russia school shooting rises to 13 UPDATED/VIDEO

The death toll in a shooting incident in a school in Izhevsk has risen to 13, including seven children.

The incident also left 21 people, including 14 kids, wounded, the Russian Investigative Committee told TASS on September 26.

"According to preliminary reports, the crime claimed the lives of 13 people, including six adults and seven young children. Fourteen people and seven kids were wounded," the investigators specified.

On the morning of September 26, an unknown attacker opened fire in School 88 in Izhevsk and committed suicide after the attack. The investigators said the man was wearing a black T-shirt with Nazi symbols and a balaclava helmet. No documents were found on the criminal, who is currently being identified. A criminal case has been opened.

The Russian Interior Ministry confirmed the information about the shooting.

Governor of the Udmurt Republic of the Russian Federation Alexander Brechalov said that special services and an ambulance brigade were working on the spot.

"Proceeding from the situation at school No 88: all corresponding teams are involved. I arrived at the scene, I will promptly report on the incident," Brechalov said.

The Education Ministry also sent a group of specialists to Izhevsk.

Brechalov confirmed the death of a security guard at school #88 in Izhevsk and the death toll among children.

"A stranger entered the school and killed a security guard, this is already known. There are victims among children, some children are wounded. The evacuation is under completion. According to my information, the attacker shot himself," Brechalov told Gazeta.Ru.
