Digital transport map launched for COP29 in Baku
In preparation for the arrival of global visitors for the COP29 climate conference in Baku, set for November 11 to 22, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has launched a Digital Transport Map.
This online tool provides essential information about strategically located transport hubs, venue access, and hotel accommodations, enabling users to efficiently manage their transport needs during the conference, Caliber.Az reports via COP29 Azerbaijan.
The network of transport hubs encompasses key locations throughout the city and integrates various routes and transport options. These hubs facilitate easy access for delegates and visitors traveling from their accommodations to Baku Stadium, offering connections via shuttle buses, metro lines, and taxis.
Available on the COP29 website, the Digital Transport Map is designed to help users locate the key hubs. These hubs are optimized to streamline delegates' journeys, effectively linking routes between the hubs, the venue, and accommodations throughout COP29.
This user-friendly resource offers navigation to Baku Stadium, including the Blue and Green Zones, Heydar Aliyev Airport, major hotels, and residential areas, as well as information on the COP29 transport hub network and related shuttle services and express airport transfer routes. Additionally, it features details about parking areas, bus stops, and pick-up and drop-off locations. Users can select the most efficient driving or walking routes by using relevant options on the digital map.
The interactive transport map is one of several initiatives being implemented by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company to manage the expected influx of visitors, ensuring smooth and comfortable movement for guests and residents alike during the conference.
Other measures include the deployment of hundreds of taxis and nearly 400 buses, including express public buses, dedicated conference shuttles, and airport transfers, all aimed at providing reliable transport services.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani government is pleased to offer accredited participants complimentary city and airport shuttle services, along with free access to public transport during the conference from November 11 to 22. This provision of free public transport, alongside the shuttle services for delegates, exceeds UNFCCC requirements and demonstrates Azerbaijan's commitment to facilitating delegate mobility during COP29.
To access these complimentary services, delegates must present their accreditation or a confirmation letter from UNFCCC. All pertinent information regarding conference transport services is available on the COP29 website.
The interactive digital map represents just one facet of the Operating Company’s transport strategy. The development of this multi-modal transport system aims to ensure a safe and seamless travel experience, with planning designed to enhance every aspect of a passenger's journey in Azerbaijan—from arrival at the airport to travel between accommodations and accessing the venue. This strategy involves a coordinated effort across multiple government agencies to support each step of the visitor experience.
