Envoy: Russia open to talks on joining Trump Route
Russia is closely monitoring the development of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a transport initiative planned for the South Caucasus, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, has said.
Kopyrkin said Moscow is open to cooperating on the project, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“We are ready to discuss the possibility of joining this initiative, taking into account the close cooperation between Russia and Armenia in supporting and developing the railway sector in the Republic of Armenia,” he said.
The ambassador noted that practical details of the project are still emerging, and Russia’s participation would be considered as the initiative takes shape.
TRIPP is a U.S.-promoted initiative to establish a transport and economic corridor linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe. It follows the August 8, 2025, Washington summit, where President Donald Trump mediated between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, setting the stage for regional cooperation.
The corridor aims to create integrated transport networks—railways, highways, and logistics hubs—facilitating the flow of goods, energy, and people across the region. TRIPP also seeks to boost trade, investment, and economic integration, supporting regional development and long-term stability.
