Erdogan thanks President Aliyev for help in extinguishing fires in Türkiye
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for his country's support in fighting forest fires in Türkiye.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. On his order, an aircraft was sent to Türkiye to extinguish fires. With the help of this aircraft, we extinguished the fires very effectively,” Erdogan said while speaking after a meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
According to him, the number of forest fires in the country has more than doubled this year and reached 5,540.“Some 27 aeroplanes, 105 helicopters and more than 5,000 ground vehicles are involved in extinguishing fires.
From August 15 to 19, there were 306 forest fires. The relevant ministers are always on the ground. I regularly receive information from them,’ Erdogan specified.In line with the order of President Ilham Aliyev, an amphibian aircraft BE-200ChS of the aviation detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was sent to Türkiye to assist the brotherly country in fighting severe forest fires.
According to the latest information, the aircraft is taking part in extinguishing forest fires in the direction of Ushak-Eshme in western Türkiye.
