Azerbaijani official’s visit highlights stronger strategic dialogue with Russia

On April 9, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani president on Special Assignments Khalaf Khalafov visited Moscow for high-level talks with key Russian officials, focusing on strengthening the constructive dialogue between the two countries at various levels.

Khalafov’s visit included discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation in charge of foreign policy Yury Ushakov, Chairman of the Federation Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin, and Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Galuzin and Andrey Rudenko, Caliber.Az reports per local media. 

The meetings focused on the constructive dialogue between Azerbaijan and Russia at various levels, with both sides emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding multilateral cooperation. The officials highlighted the ongoing collaboration in several areas, including inter-parliamentary exchanges.

A key topic of discussion was the Declaration on Allied Interaction, signed on February 22, 2022, which both sides agreed is the cornerstone of their relationship. The declaration provides a strong foundation for long-term cooperation between the two countries. 

The talks also reviewed the current state of bilateral relations, with special attention paid to addressing issues of concern to Azerbaijan. Both sides underlined the importance of continuing their joint efforts to ensure long-term stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region. The meetings were described as constructive and business-like, underscoring the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation and fostering stability in the region.
