Georgia reaffirms readiness to facilitate Azerbaijan-Armenia peace talks
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has reiterated her country’s commitment to serving as a neutral platform for peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, underscoring Tbilisi's continued support for stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
Addressing a panel discussion during the Delphi Economic Forum, Botchorishvili emphasized Georgia’s longstanding role in fostering dialogue and its readiness to further contribute to the normalization process between Baku and Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
“Georgia and Tbilisi always remain open for peace and dialogue. We are ready to contribute to the process (of normalisation) between the sides. Our country has already established itself as a neutral platform for negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and is ready to continue supporting this process. The main goal is to achieve sustainable peace in the region,” Botchorishvili stated.
While various international actors, including the European Union, Russia, and the United States, have taken part in mediation efforts, Georgia has emerged as a valuable and impartial venue for talks.
Tbilisi previously hosted confidential meetings between the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers, reaffirming its geopolitical role as a stabilizing force in the region. Analysts note that Georgia’s neutrality, shared borders with both countries, and balanced foreign policy make it an ideal location for such dialogue.
