Azerbaijani MP calls for active parliamentary role in Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process
Ramil Hasan, a member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (parliament), has stressed the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in shaping post-conflict realities between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Speaking at the "Parliamentary Diplomacy in International Governance" panel during the IV Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Hasan emphasised the need for active parliamentary involvement in defining the future of Azerbaijan- Armenia relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Hasan highlighted Türkiye's impartial support in resolving various conflicts, which has reinforced its position as a model of diplomacy with a global reach.
"This prestigious forum, initiated by the Republic of Türkiye, provides a crucial and timely platform for dialogue. Every year, we gather here to discuss pressing international issues. This year, under the theme 'Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World', we are again offering a platform for collectively addressing the challenges facing the global order. Türkiye’s achievements in parliamentary diplomacy should serve as an inspiration for other nations and multilateral institutions," Hasan remarked.
The Azerbaijani parliamentarian also underscored the importance of the current stage in Azerbaijan- Armenia relations, stressing the necessity of moving towards a new era of trust and reconciliation. He specifically drew attention to the Western Azerbaijan community, highlighting the significance of the ongoing discussions.
"The expected peace agreement with Armenia will pave the way for a new phase, one that demands the restoration of trust, promotion of reconciliation, and dignified coexistence," he concluded.
