Azerbaijani, Malaysian deputy foreign ministers to hold political consultations in Baku
Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister, Datuk Mohamad bin Alamin, will visit Baku from April 14 to 16, according to diplomatic sources familiar with the matter.
During the visit, he will co-chair the second Malaysian-Azerbaijani political consultations with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, Elnur Mammadov, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The sources say the discussions are expected to cover the entire spectrum of bilateral relations—ranging from political and economic to consular and humanitarian issues—with the aim of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The participants are also set to share views on current regional and global issues, reaffirming their commitment to developing the partnership and continuing regular consultations.
"The visit to Baku reflects the positive dynamics of Malaysian-Azerbaijani relations, which are being strengthened through high-level visits and exchanges, and demonstrates a mutual desire to expand cooperation in areas of shared interest," the sources add.
Azerbaijan and Malaysia have maintained diplomatic relations since 1993, marked by various high-level visits and cooperative agreements. Both nations actively support each other in various international platforms, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Their collaboration within the Non-Aligned Movement has been particularly noteworthy, with leaders participating in summits and engaging in dialogues to promote shared values and objectives.
