Georgian president discusses bilateral relations with Azerbaijani ambassador
President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili has met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Faig Guliyev to discus bilateral relations between the two countries.
News of the meeting was announced by the Georgian head of state via his official X page, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The two sides discussed the current state of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries. The president emphasized the importance of Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation in ensuring stability and the development of the South Caucasus region.
Kavelashvili, who has assumed the office of the Georgian presidency in December 2024, expressed his gratitude for Azerbaijan's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on political, economic, and regional cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Many projects tie the two neighbouring countries in various fields, with a revival of negotiations on the opening of railway communications and the recent signing of a MoU on the cooperation in the field of green electricity transmission being some of the most recent ones.
