Azerbaijan says 436 people fallen victim to landmines since 2020 war

A total of 436 people have fallen victim to landmines in Azerbaijan since the end of the 2020 war, the country’s Foreign Ministry said, as two separate explosions injured three civilians this week.

The incidents occurred in the Khojavand and Kalbajar districts on August 12 and 13, respectively, according to the ministry, Caliber.Az reports.

“Two consecutive days. Two landmine explosions. Three civilians injured,” the Foreign Ministry said in a post on X.

The ministry said the incidents highlighted the continuing threat posed by landmines, which it said were hindering reconstruction efforts and the safe return of displaced people.
