Azerbaijan, China eye stronger partnership in fight against crime

Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has met with Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei for talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ prosecution authorities.

The meeting highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations and growing cooperation across various areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

Aliyev noted that China has for many years supported Azerbaijan’s position and political initiatives on various international platforms.

He emphasized that, driven by the political will of the two countries’ leaders and regular high-level contacts, Azerbaijan-China relations have developed dynamically in recent years, reaching the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

As a key milestone, Aliyev pointed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s two visits to China in 2025 and the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and China.

According to the official, the high level of interstate relations has created favorable conditions for further developing ties between the prosecution authorities of the two countries.

Aliyev also highlighted the importance of his meeting with Ying Yong, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China, held in Shanghai in April, saying it contributed to strengthening interagency cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation in combating various forms of crime, practical aspects of interaction, and prospects for expanding legal and institutional ties.

Lu Mei, for her part, stressed that China attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and expressed satisfaction with the successful development of bilateral cooperation.
