Erdoğan urges open channels between US, Venezuela in call with Maduro
Türkiye hopes that communication channels between Washington and Caracas remain open, and that both countries can avoid further escalation of tensions, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on December 6.
According to Erdoğan’s office, the Turkish president emphasised the importance of keeping dialogue open and expressed hope for a swift reduction in tensions, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The leaders also discussed bilateral relations and regional issues during the phone conversation.
The conversation occurred amid heightened U.S. actions against Maduro's regime, including Trump's November 29 declaration closing Venezuelan airspace to deter "drug and human traffickers" and a naval buildup in the Caribbean.
