Europe harming itself with anti-Russian sanctions State Duma speaker says
Taking into account the 12th package of sanctions against Russia approved by the European Union (EU) the day before, 18,772 restrictive measures have been introduced, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.
European countries are "acting under the dictation of the United States" and are harming their citizens, he wrote on Telegram.
According to Volodin, "a downturn in the eurozone economy is predicted within six months," which means the first recession since the coronavirus pandemic.
"Western companies that have announced their withdrawal from our country have lost more than $103 billion. This money remains in Russia," the Duma speaker said.
On December 18, the EU approved the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. The main innovation of the new package was restrictions against the Russian diamond industry. The EU also imposed restrictions on imports from Russia of iron, iron, copper and aluminium products, including wire, foil and pipes.
In addition, the TV channels Spas and Tsargrad, the Russian special economic zone Alabuga, Tupolev, AlfaStrakhovanie Group, and Rosfinmonitoring were placed under sanctions.
