Eurosport to broadcast Baku–Khankendi cycle race live, says federation official
An international cycling race linking Baku and Khankendi will be held in Azerbaijan from May 10 to 14, 2026, according to the country’s cycling federation.
Speaking to local media, Sahib Alekberov, first vice-president of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, said Eurosport would broadcast all stages of the race live — a first for the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Alekberov said an organising committee had already been established and was holding its first meeting. He described cycling races as an important way of showcasing Azerbaijan to an international audience.
“The race consists of five stages, each covering between 150 and 200 kilometres,” he said. “Through these stages, we will present the natural beauty of Azerbaijan to the global community. For the first time, all five stages will be broadcast live by Eurosport.”
He added that the event would differ from other cycling competitions, as the second and fourth stages will pass through territories that were previously under occupation.
“These stages will also highlight the destruction inflicted on these lands,” Alekberov said.
During the event, organisers also unveiled the official logo of the race, featuring the colours of the Azerbaijani flag and an infinity symbol.
