Expert: Pezeshkian's victory in Iranian elections unfavorable for Armenia
Expert on Iran, Zhanna Vardanyan, has said that Masoud Pezeshkian's victory in Iran's presidential elections is undesirable for Armenia.
"In the past, the reformist representative and ethnic Azerbaijani has made a number of anti-Armenian statements, including in the context of the Karabakh conflict,” she told Armenian media, according to Caliber.Az.
"Of course, the president does not conduct Iran's foreign policy alone - there is a whole system of decision-making, and we should not forget about the factor of Supreme Leader Khamenei. Nevertheless, local difficulties may arise," she said.
According to Vardanyan, "Pezeshkian has repeatedly played the ethnic card, made quite loyal statements to Turkic-speaking groups, called for opening Turkic schools in East Azerbaijan Province, etc.".
