FM Bayramov sheds light on Armenia's 30-year assault on Azerbaijan's cultural heritage In conversation with UN official
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Miguel Angel Moratinos, the High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC), on September 25, during the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting focused on the collaboration between Azerbaijan and UNAOC, exploring future plans, joint projects, and the current post-conflict situation in the region, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan's productive partnership with UNAOC and acknowledged Moratinos' significant role in enhancing this cooperation.
During the discussion, Bayramov provided a comprehensive overview of the current realities in the region, including the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He highlighted the extensive and destructive impacts of the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani lands, asserting that Armenia has systematically plundered and obliterated Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.
Despite these challenges, Bayramov pointed out that Azerbaijan has taken the initiative in promoting a peace agenda and is actively working towards normalizing relations. He noted that several unresolved issues, particularly territorial claims embedded in Armenian legislative acts and the Constitution, are impeding progress on the peace agreement.
