FM: Türkiye voices support for peace initiatives in Ukraine conflict
Türkiye has expressed its support for all initiatives aimed at achieving a swift peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
The relevant statement came from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan following discussions in Ankara with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"We support all efforts directed towards establishing peace as soon as possible and continue initiatives aimed at bringing the conflict to a close through dialogue," said Fidan.
He also highlighted the importance of reviving the grain initiative, stating, "We wish for the Black Sea region to become one of cooperation."
Notably, the grain deal, signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022, was suspended on July 17, 2023. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly asserted that the West exported the majority of Ukrainian grain to their own countries, while the primary aim of the deal—to supply grain to needy nations, including those in Africa—has not been fulfilled.
