Georgia detains two Ukrainians for attempting to smuggle explosives
11 September 2025 15:55
Two Ukrainian nationals attempted to bring explosives into Georgia, the State Security Service (SSG) said on Telegram.
The suspects managed to transport the explosives through Romania, Bulgaria, and Türkiye. Authorities discovered 2.4 kg of hexogen — a substance more powerful than TNT — in their truck, the Georgian State Security Service said, per Caliber.Az.
The detainees had received instructions from an unidentified person in Ukraine. It is currently unknown whether Georgia was their final destination or a transit country.
In addition, authorities seized eight mobile phones, a large sum of cash, various computer equipment, and cocaine.
