Georgia eyes new horizons in economic cooperation with Hungary
During an official visit to Budapest on June 11-12, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze underscored the significant potential for expanding trade and economic relations between Georgia and Hungary.
Speaking at the second meeting of the Georgian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission, Kobakhidze emphasized that while current cooperation shows promising momentum, there remain abundant opportunities for deeper collaboration across multiple sectors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by a government delegation, is actively engaged in advancing bilateral ties during the commission’s deliberations. The meeting is set to culminate with the signing of several cooperation agreements spanning agriculture, energy, culture, innovation, and sports.
"Further development of economic and trade relations is very important for us. We also have very good dynamics in this direction, but there are even more resources. It is in our interests to do our best to maximise the development of this potential," Kobakhidze stated, emphasizing Georgia’s eagerness to cooperate broadly in fields including energy, communications, environmental protection, agriculture, education, culture, law enforcement, justice, and healthcare.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán described Georgia’s economic performance as exceptional amid a challenging European economic landscape. "Your visit is a great privilege for us because of the results you have in the country. The European economy is suffering a lot right now. If someone has an economic growth of more than 1 per cent, it is already a great achievement. Therefore, your 7 per cent growth is a galactic phenomenon," Orbán remarked, praising Georgia’s resilience and growth.
