Armenian PM sees many nuances in implementation of "Trump Route"
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that Yerevan is engaged in constructive bilateral talks with the United States over the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project, noting that the initiative involves a range of nuances affecting Armenia’s relations with Russia.
Pashinyan made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of an informal CIS leaders’ summit, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“We are currently conducting very constructive bilateral discussions with the United States regarding the implementation and construction of the TRIPP route. This represents significant and substantive changes for our region,” Pashinyan said.
“There are many nuances here concerning our bilateral relations with the Russian Federation. Today, I think it is a very good opportunity to discuss all of this.”
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a US-brokered infrastructure project aimed at establishing a multimodal transit corridor through southern Armenia, connecting Azerbaijan’s mainland to its Nakhchivan exclave.
The route, approximately 40–43 km long in Armenia’s Syunik Province, includes rail, road, gas and oil pipelines, power lines, and fibre-optic cables. It is part of ongoing Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation efforts following the 2020 Karabakh war and subsequent anti-terror operation in 2023 that fully restored Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
