Georgia’s economy chief calls Azerbaijan key partner in energy and transport
Georgia and Azerbaijan maintain friendly relations based on cooperation and mutual respect, with exemplary ties across all Azerbaijani state institutions, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
According to local media, Kvrivishvili noted that Azerbaijan is one of Georgia’s key partners in transport, energy, and other sectors, emphasising the breadth of bilateral cooperation.
She stated that close coordination with Azerbaijani counterparts takes place on a daily basis due to cooperation across multiple fields. In particular, she highlighted collaboration within the Middle Corridor project, stressing that Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan are implementing the initiative in line with an agreed plan and schedule to ensure it becomes a major international transport route.

In addition, she said the two countries are cooperating on gas imports, with negotiations currently underway for 2027. According to her, the talks are progressing as planned, and she expressed confidence that they will conclude positively.
She further drew attention to the forthcoming opening of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars project, noting that Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia will soon jointly celebrate its historic launch. Kvrivishvili emphasised that the project will play a significant role both for Georgia and for the wider region.
