Helsinki police launch investigation into PKK provocation near Turkish embassy
Finnish police have opened an investigation into the provocation by supporters of the terrorist organization PKK near the Turkish embassy in Helsinki.
A detailed report was requested from law enforcement agencies, followed by the police launching an investigation into the incident that took place near the embassy on February 28, Anadolu reports, citing a statement issued by the embassy.
On February 26, supporters of the terrorist organisation PKK burned a photograph outside the Turkish embassy in Helsinki, allegedly belonging to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to Finnish press reports.
The statement notes that some 20 masked supporters of the terrorist organisation attempted a provocation near the Turkish embassy in Helsinki without informing the police beforehand.
As the diplomatic mission stated, law enforcement patrols that were waiting outside the embassy intervened and thwarted the provocation attempt. They detained four people, of which two were Finnish citizens and the other two foreigners, who were later released.
