Heydar Aliyev Foundation's Vice President discusses with UN officials eradicating global hunger
Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder and Head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva met with Director of the Geneva Office of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Gian Carlo Cirri and Director of the European Regional Office of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Arnold Kreilhuber during her working visit to Geneva, Switzerland.
During the meeting with Cirri, they discussed joint actions of IDEA and WFP to eradicate hunger on Earth, which is one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as providing food to people suffering from conflicts, natural disasters and the effects of climate change, Caliber.Az reports.
Leyla Aliyeva proposed to involve Azerbaijani volunteers in the activities of WFP in different regions of the world, taking into account that in recent years the volunteer movement in Azerbaijan has gained great momentum, volunteers have gained valuable experience both inside and outside the country.
At the meeting with Arnold Kreilhuber, various projects implemented by IDEA in Azerbaijan together with UNEP were mentioned. Projects including the protection of several species of fauna and initiatives to protect and restore the Caspian Sea ecosystem were cited as examples of successful cooperation.
