Hungary’s Tisza Party sets out structure of future Cabinet
Péter Magyar, the Tisza Party leader, has announced that the future government of Hungary will be structured around 16 ministries.
In a Facebook post, Magyar said the party’s 141-member parliamentary faction will hold its inaugural meeting during the day, during which seven ministers of the prospective cabinet are also expected to be announced.
Magyar stated that the faction will confirm Andrea Bujdosó as its leader. He also said that, on his proposal, Ágnes Forsthoffer will be nominated for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly following a political transition, describing both figures as “a political and professional guarantee” for the functioning of the new parliament.
He added that he would later present nominees for key ministries, including foreign affairs, finance, economy and energy, healthcare, defence, environmental protection, as well as agriculture and the food industry. The announcements are expected after 14:30, following the conclusion of the faction’s meeting.
According to parliamentary election results, Andrea Bujdosó defeated Fidesz candidate Tamás Menczer in Pest constituency 3, while Ágnes Forsthoffer won 57.29% of the vote in Veszprém constituency 2. If appointed, she would become only the second woman to serve as Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament since 1990.
Magyar also said that negotiations on forming a new government will continue throughout the week.
