IDF spokesperson: Israeli Air Force remains ready to neutralise threats despite ceasefire
On June 24, 2025, at a press briefing, IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin stated that “the danger still exists,” underscoring the ongoing security challenges despite the ceasefire.
According to the IDF’s official Telegram channel, Defrin reported that in line with political directives, a ceasefire came into effect earlier that day.
He affirmed that the IDF “fully accomplished all the objectives set within the framework of Operation ‘Rising Lion.’”
He added that the Chief of General Staff has ordered the IDF to maintain a “high level of combat readiness” to deliver a “powerful response to any violation of the ceasefire.” This readiness involves “sustaining high operational pressure and preparedness on all fronts and along all borders.”
Defrin detailed that throughout the previous night, Israeli Air Force fighters struck “dozens of military targets in Tehran,” employing more than one hundred munitions. Among the targets hit was the SPND headquarters building, a key site used for developing technologies and weapons systems for the Iranian regime.
He further stated that the IDF inflicted “multiple significant damages” to Tehran’s military production infrastructure.
Regarding recent threats, Defrin revealed that this morning in western Iran, Israeli forces detected preparations for a missile attack on Israeli territory. An operation was launched to prevent and halt this threat, resulting in the destruction of eight missile launchers that were ready for immediate firing.
Even at the time of the briefing, Defrin emphasised that the Israeli Air Force continued to maintain “aerial readiness to neutralise threats and carry out rapid offensive actions.” Before the ceasefire was implemented, approximately twenty rockets were fired from Iran toward various locations in Israel, with most intercepted successfully.
He noted that teams from the IDF Home Front Command, along with rescue services and security personnel, are actively working on the ground to assist those affected in impacted areas.
Sadly, casualties were reported at the Beersheba missile impact site. “There are fatalities and wounded,” Defrin said. “Several people were rescued. The Home Front Command, rescue services, and security forces continue to sweep the area.” He added that both the Chief of General Staff and the entire IDF “share the grief of the families.” Defrin expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished “a full recovery to the wounded.”
He stressed that there have been no changes to the directives of the Home Front Command and reiterated, “Instructions must still be followed; the danger still exists.”
Concluding his briefing, Defrin affirmed, “The IDF, all its commands and units, will continue to maintain a high level of readiness and vigilance. We are closely monitoring developments, and I will provide further updates as necessary.”
He closed by thanking the public for their attention.
