International Liberation Front of French Colonies сondemns Paris's violence and repression
International Liberation Front of French Colonies has denounced the violent actions of French authorities in colonized territories.
The organization described the recent killing of two young Kanaks in St. Louis by French law enforcement as a tragic event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Front criticized France for failing to uphold commitments made in the Nouméa and Matignon agreements, asserting that the country is maintaining a colonial regime under the guise of restoring order. “France opts to address the issues of numerous indigenous populations through violence. Today, the focus is on a people denied their right to self-determination.”
The Front urged the international community not to remain passive in the face of this systemic and institutionalized violence, emphasizing the need to pressure France to adhere to international law and to cease its repressive actions immediately.
The situation in Martinique is equally troubling, with the rights of its people to economic and social justice being harshly suppressed. The Front condemned this state repression as part of a broader colonial policy.
The International Liberation Front pledged its unwavering support to all victims of colonialism, including the Kanaks and the people of Martinique. “Our struggle is one for justice, freedom, liberation, and dignity for our people. We will remain steadfast in our fight until colonialism is eradicated and our peoples achieve true freedom, peace, and sovereignty.”
Seventeen political movements from French colonized territories have joined this statement of solidarity. Earlier this year, leaders of independence movements gathered in Baku to establish the Front for the Liberation of French Colonies.
